For most state unemployment insurance agencies, the process of rooting out employer-based fraud is still a manual one. That's a clear factor in its lack of effectiveness, according to government respondents to a recent survey.
In fact, 62 percent of UI agencies characterized their process as either "primarily manual" or "entirely manual," and these agencies were twice as likely to view their manual processes as "not effective," compared with those using software-driven processes.
